I got to thinking about what it must be like for football players and other professional athletes. Of course, there’s all the good stuff, like the high salaries and the fame. But there are some more difficult things as well. Now, I’m not saying that we should feel bad for these athletes or anything. After all, they’re getting paid well for what they’re being put through, or at least some of them are. It’s more of me just trying to imagine what it might be like to live that kind of life.
I was thinking about the travel part, you see. I did some traveling of my own recently, and thankfully I was able to stay in what was probably the best Nelson motel around. It got me thinking though. I wonder what it’s like to always be traveling, and not spending all that much time at home. I’m sure that some athletes already have their packing down to a science. That just makes sense since they’re always getting on planes in order to fly to a different city or even country.
Or, even if they just travel by bus, there’s still the need to fit the things that you need to bring around, in a limited number of bags. I wonder how they do it. After all, I wasn’t away from home all that long, and yet I was already having trouble figuring out what to bring, and how to stuff it all in my luggage. I wonder if those players have special packing techniques or special ways of folding clothes and other items.
That would actually be cool to read, if a player just spent an entire interview talking about how they pack so much into just a few bags. Of course, I could be wrong. Maybe they bring huge loads of things with them wherever they go. But I kind of doubt that.
